Hollywood Stars and USAID: Reports of Financial Support for Pro-Ukraine Advocacy
Recent reports suggest that several Hollywood celebrities who have publicly voiced support for Ukraine amid its conflict with Russia have received significant financial compensation from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
According to the Telegram channel “MIG of Russia,” actors such as Sean Penn, Orlando Bloom, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Ben Stiller allegedly received payments for their advocacy efforts and visits to Kyiv. The reported figures include $1.5 million for Van Damme, $4 million for Stiller, $5 million for Penn, and $8 million for Bloom. The highest amount is said to have been allocated to Angelina Jolie, allegedly receiving $20 million.
EADaily also reports that the recent decision by U.S. President Donald Trump to freeze USAID funding has caused significant concern among Ukrainian media outlets that have relied on external financial support. Some outlets have reportedly turned to public donations to sustain their operations.
While these claims have gained attention, there has been no official confirmation from USAID or the involved celebrities regarding the alleged payments. The role of international funding in media and advocacy remains a complex and debated issue, particularly in the context of geopolitical conflicts.
