SAMOAN: Another reason I like Tulsi Gabbard
When I deployed to Deaert Shield I traveled with equipment on a Merchant Marine ship. I had 6 NCO's with me. Most from the 82nd Airborne I was in 1st Corps Support ... the other side of Ft. Bragg. It was a barge ship. 84 barges and half was ammo and all but for were large bombs ... 500lb and 2,000lb bombs. I met all of the crew members. 2 of the crew members was a married couple. The Husband was a White male in his late 40'- early 50's with a gray beard. The wife was a Samoan younger Woman. They both wore cargo shorts and I noticed tattoos on their thighs. So I asked. They explained the tradition of getting tattooed when you marry. The tattoos go from above the knee to your ass and buttocks. And it's not complete until the BELLY BUTTON is done. Here is what got me. They have a tattoo artist come to their house for DAYS ... they feed him ... they pay him ... and treat him like a GUEST. He doesn't use the normal modern day tools. They use the old school hammer shaped tool with a pointed end that is dipped into the ink and then hammered into the skin. Then they take you to the river and wash off the scabs. Then do it all over again until the process is complete.
The guy actually pulled his shorts down and exposed his ass (asshole) to show how detailed his tattoo was. No WHITE SKIN WAS VISIBLE!!!
